Camryn Bowden
Camryn Bowden is a New York State Broadcasters Association multi-award-winning reporter, and a former intern at CNN, Yahoo Finance, NBC News NOW, and a current intern at WPHL-TV. She is studying for her Bachelors degrees in Journalism and Political Science, and her Masters degree in Journalism.
While at Hofstra University, Camryn has secured four internships, including a four-month period at CNN with the Source with Kaitlan Collins, a three-month stint at Yahoo Finance, and an eight-month internship with NBC News Meet the Press NOW. Her next venture is at Nexstar-owned WPHL-TV in Philadelphia.
As Station Manager, she acts as the Chief student executive, building a community and managing the station in day-to-day operations. As Chief Content Officer, she ensured the quality of all talk programming aired on WRHU-FM, maintained 24-hours of music and talk content, wrote and produced promotions, and organized the schedules for the various NY Islanders, LI Nets, LI Ducks, and Hofstra Sports games. Additionally, she produces broadcasts for Newsline and the Morning Wake-Up Call, as well as her own podcast Queerly Informed. Camryn also anchors the above-named programs, as well as Hofstra Today and the 2024 Hofstra Votes Live broadcast.
Camryn also builds her own opportunities, creating and producing a daily two minute broadcast, recapping the biggest headlines from throughout the day. She does this program individually, writing scripts, creating VOs, drafting banners, recording, and editing the full broadcast for a 7:30 PM airtime.
She has received numerous commendations and awards for her time reporting and producing at WRHU-FM, including recognitions from the New York State Broadcasters Association, the Press Club of Long Island, the Alliance for Women in Media, the Intercollegiate Broadcasting Systems, as well as the Lawrence Herbert School of Communications.
